Why Do They Fail?

Oil level sensors are exposed to heat, oil contamination, and long service intervals. Common causes of failure include:

  • Oil sludge buildup or varnish, interfering with sensor accuracy

  • Internal sensor degradation due to age or thermal fatigue

  • Moisture ingress, especially in sensors mounted low in the sump

  • Broken float or sensor element, often from over-tightening or impact
