For more than a century and a half, Lucas has been at the heart of automotive lighting innovation.
From pioneering some of the earliest vehicle lamps to supplying today’s most advanced halogen, LED and HID technologies, Lucas remains the UK’s original automotive lighting brand, trusted worldwide for performance, reliability and style.
As the official Lucas licensee for automotive lighting in the UK and Europe, ELTA proudly upholds this legacy.
Our extensive Lucas lighting programme now includes over 600 OE-matching references covering cars, light and heavy-duty commercial vehicles and motorcycles.
Whether you need the smallest tachograph bulb or cutting-edge Xenon HID and BOOSTER upgrade bulbs, Lucas has the solution — ready to fit, rigorously tested and trusted on the road.
With Lucas automotive lighting, you gain heritage, trust and OE-quality performance supported by ELTA’s world-class distribution and technical expertise.
It’s a partnership that allows independent motor factors, workshops and major retailers to champion the aftermarket with confidence and pride - under the most iconic name in vehicle lighting.
Every Lucas bulb combines reliability, performance, and safety, making it the trusted choice for drivers, workshops, and motor factors alike.
Every Lucas bulb is E-marked where applicable, ensuring compliance with ECE Regulation 37. This covers light output, filament geometry, voltage, wattage, and precise dimensions. Approvals come from Europe’s most respected authorities, such as Germany (E1), the UK (E11) and the Netherlands (E4), confirming OE-level standards.
At ELTA Automotive, we back Lucas quality with our own rigorous processes. As an ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001-accredited company, and one of the UK’s few bulb specialists with a dedicated testing laboratory, we test every Lucas bulb to ensure consistent performance and reliability.
Light Flux
ELTA measures light flux, colour temperature, and luminous intensity in-house using state-of-the-art Labsphere equipment.
Life Testing
Technicians run every bulb through life-cycle tests on advanced rigs to confirm longevity and reliability. Bulbs are switched on and off repeatedly, and twin-filament models are cycled through both filaments to mirror real-world use.
Geometric Measurement
To ensure a perfect beam pattern, technicians check every dimension and filament position with precision shadowgraph projection equipment.
Chromaticity
For coloured bulbs, ELTA verifies chromaticity so each light stays within the required colour range. This is critical for amber bulbs, which must meet specific colour coordinates.
Vibration and Shock
In use, the bulbs will also be subject to vibration and shock and so this is also simulated at the test facility. This is an especially important test for heavy duty and long-life bulbs.
