1. Is the Window Motor Faulty?

Not necessarily.

If the motor can still be heard operating but the glass doesn't move, drops into the door or moves unevenly, the window lift regulator mechanism has usually failed—not the motor.

Before removing the door trim, check the obvious items first:

• Fuse
• Window switch
• Listen for motor operation

If the motor is completely silent, further electrical diagnosis will be required once access has been gained.

2. Do I Need to Replace the Motor?

Usually not.

Many VXPRO window lift regulators are supplied without a motor, allowing the original motor to be transferred if it is still operating correctly.

Replace the motor only if it has failed electrically, has suffered water damage or is excessively noisy.

3. Does the Vehicle Have Comfort Function?

This is probably the most important question when ordering.

If the vehicle has one-touch opening/closing (comfort function):

✅ Re-using the original motor?
No problem.

✅ Replacing the motor as well?
The replacement motor must support the same comfort function.

4. How Can I Tell?

The easiest guide is the motor connector.

Basic systems

• Usually 2-wire motors
• Manual operation
• No comfort function

Comfort systems

• Usually multi-pin connectors
• One-touch opening/closing
• Anti-pinch protection
• Communication with the vehicle electronics

Always compare the original connector before ordering.

5. Why Are There Several Window Lift Regulators Listed?

This catches technicians out regularly.

The same vehicle may have several regulator options depending on specification:

• Regulator mechanism only
• Regulator with motor
• Motor with comfort function
• Motor without comfort function
• Complete regulator with carrier panel/backplate

Even the same OE number may cross-reference to multiple versions.

If in doubt, compare the original part or contact our technical team before ordering.

6. Why Doesn't My New Regulator Look Exactly Like the Original?

Most VXPRO window lift regulators are designed to closely match the original OE construction. However, some aftermarket designs may look slightly different, often to improve efficiency or performance.

As long as the mounting points, glass fixings and motor interface match the original, the regulator will fit and function correctly.

Window Lift Regulator Installation Tips

• Transfer the original motor if it's serviceable.
• Remove transport clips only when instructed.
• Check window guides and seals.
• Replace damaged vapour barriers.
• Calibrate the window if required. (turn on the ignition, fully lower the window while holding the switch, and then fully raise the window while holding the switch up for a few seconds.)
• Check full operation before refitting the door trim.
